Restraining Order

A Restraining Order prohibits or restrains a person from doing something. In family law, a restraining order is often sought to freeze or preserve assets until a court can review and ensure that the disposition of those assets is handled either by agreement between the parties or pursuant to court order.A restraining order is also sought to prevent a person from doing something, typically to restrain a spouse from "molesting or annoying" the other spouse, and perhaps the children as well.
